HAMMER TOES

The hammer toe is characterized by deformity of the joints of the toe. The toe folds and is elevated compared to others, which is normally caused by muscle imbalance, a disease such as diabetes or a neurological condition. It can also be caused by wearing the wrong shoes. A shoe that is not suitable for the foot can cause friction and pressure on the top and underside of the toes. To avoid developing this pathology, wear shoes that provide enough space for your forefoot.

Wearing foot orthotic orthotics and orthopaedic shoes will help to clear the pressure points that can be painful. In major cases, surgery may be a suitable treatment for pain relief.
